Prison Outreach
Sharing hope in the local prisons, and introducing them to Jesus!
One of our Life Groups was told about some needs at a local women's prison and at a local men's prison in Kenya.
They rallied together to begin supplying those needs, and they decided to share the hope of Jesus while doing so.
Supplying the basic essentials has led to conversations with the staff and prisoners. We have been given permission to speak to the entire prison, sharing the hope of Jesus with them. If anyone chooses to follow Jesus, we are granted extra time to meet with them and begin teaching them what it means to follow Jesus, even while in prison.
We have been able to reach 120 women, along with 16 babies who are with them in prison. We have also been able to reach 1200 men.
We have been able to start a Life Group at each prison, with those who have chosen to follow Jesus. Those Life Groups continue to grow in numbers each time we go back!
Here are the most important needs these men and women need:
toiletries
sanitary towels for the women
milk for the children
men's underwear
Cost: $300 per year for all basic needs
Goals: To support the basic needs of these prisoners for 5 years. That requires $1,500.
To connect the men and women getting out of prison with a Life Group outside the prison to help them with the transition into civilian life.
